Mommy Brain Reports on- Claim Jumper

Jun-21-2007 By Monica

We decided to take Daddy and Grandpa out to Claim Jumper in Roseville, CA today for a nice Father’s Day dinner.. I made reservations 2 weeks in advance.. just in case. There was no way we were going to chance waiting an hour or more. We got there at 4:30pm and checked in. I reminded them that we would need 2 high chairs and she confirmed that was in the reservation. We only waited about 15 minutes, which was surprising considering the amount of people there. They walked us back, took us to a booth, and placed 2 high chairs at the end of the table… We tried putting the girls in them, and saw that they had to sit so far away from the table. One chair i could see working because you’d be able to push the high chair under the table, but with the two, it wasn’t possible. The chairs each got pushed up against the booth’s seats. We also noticed how far they stuck out in the aisle. It was so busy that night, and the servers were running back and forth carrying food, and drinks. We were so worried that the girls would get something dropped on them.

We did ask our server for a different table, and next thing we know, a “manager” comes over to talk to us. She basically told us we were stuck with the table we had. Even though we saw several tables open, we were told they were all taken, and there was nothing we could do about it. So.. we asked for boosted seats and decided to keep the girls in between us.. That was an interesting situation. They moved all around the table, tried standing up, reached over and grabbed things off the table. I don’t think we’ll be trying that again.

The food was great as always, and our server was ok. She only refilled our drinks once.. leaving us with barely anything by dessert. It was a great dinner, with mediocre service. I don’t think we’ll be going back on a busy day.

As far as a review goes… I give it a 9 out of 10 for the food, and a 3 out of 10 for family accommodations. 6 out of 10 as far as service. Overall i’d say 6 out of 10.

Maybe next time I’ll be a little clearer when I make my reservation and demand a table rather than assume that’s what you get when you reserve 2 high chairs.

We didn’t feel like cooking.. so we tried a new place with the girls for dinner! We checked out Original Pete’s Pizza at 4571 Gateway Park Blvd, in the Natomas area of Sacramento.

We were greeted by a very friendly employee, and very quickly taken to a booth. We asked if we could have a table since we had our own booster chairs for the girls. It wasn’t a problem. He took us to the nearest table and gave us menus for the adults and crayons and coloring placemats/menus for the girls. Our server came very quickly and took our drink order. He was back within minutes. Luckily, we knew what we were going to order, went ahead and placed our meal order.
We didn’t have to wait long at all! The food was brought out to us piping hot! The girls had chicken strips, and I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. Daddy ordered the Chicken Gorganzola Bowtie Pasta. The food was awesome! Our server was awesome when it came to refilling our drinks, and checking on us. We had even forgotten to order our appetizer, and he got that in for us very quickly. It still came before our main dishes did!

All in all, it was a very pleasant dining experience. Especially with the twins! The friendly, fun family atmosphere makes this place very easy to take the kids to. We’d definitely recommend this place to anyone with children. Even if you don’t have children.. it’s a great place for a great meal! I hope you check it out!
