Parent’s Choice $100 Giveaway!

Mar-30-2009 By Monica

** This is a sticky post. You may enter this giveaway until 2 May. For the latest post, please scroll down **

When I found out I was pregnant, I wanted to try breastfeeding my girls. I really did, but with a breast reduction surgery 5 years prior, I knew that my chances were fairly slim. All I heard my entire pregnancy was that breast milk is best, and that my kids were always going to be sick if I didn’t breastfeed them. I was basically told that if I didn’t breastfeed my girls, I wasn’t doing the best I could do for them.

Well, when the girls were born, and I had no help, no matter how much I plead with the nursing staff, to try and breast feed my girls, it seemed that the chances of me actually breast feeding were pretty slim. I tried for nearly two months, cried through most of it, and finally gave up even with help from my local support groups. I didn’t think I was producing enough, and the stress stopped up anything I could’ve had left. I had to turn to formula whether I wanted to or not. Read the rest of this entry »

Review & Giveaway – Natura

Mar-29-2009 By Monica

** This giveaway is closed **

naturaSleep… It’s such a wonderful thing. Something most people don’t get enough of. I know I don’t… and my girls sleep through the night. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep, or I’ll wake up in the middle of the night with my neck hurting, or in the Summer, just too hot and sweaty. Well, I was approached by a representative of Natura, and asked if my husband and I would like to try something from their catalogue. I saw the pillows, and thought that we just had to try them! We have such a hard time finding pillows that feel right, and that LAST!

Daddy likes firmer pillows, and I love the Down pillows. He was sent the Cloud Plus pillow, made from wool, and I received the Dream Mate pillow that is made with latex.

Wool and Latex you ask? YES! Did you know that regular pillows that are filled with synthetic fibers, or Down feathers contain bacteria, bed bugs, and dust mites? Read the rest of this entry »

Soooo, We’re moving.

Mar-26-2009 By Monica

If you’ve been listening to my Blog Talk Radio show, then you know that I’m moving. It’s not a little move either. We’re going from California to the East Coast, and we’re doing it in less than two weeks!!! YIKES!

My hubby was offered a really great job with a technology firm in North Carolina, and we couldn’t turn it down. We are going to be leaving behind pretty much all of our family and friends, which is probably the hardest part of this whole move. We are, however, very excited about the new beginning this move is going to afford us. We’ll be able to set up a new house, get rid of all kinds of old things we’ve been hanging on to for years and years, and we’ll finally have a yard for the girls to play in! Our home right now, although it’s a good size, just doesn’t work for us anymore. The back yard is concrete, and I hate letting the girls out to play for fear that they’ll fall and really get hurt.

Well, this move has brought about a few challenges for us. One is packing and moving all of our belongings across the country. Two is navigating our way along the freeways, highways and other roads. Three is keeping the girls occupied while we’re driving for hours at a time. I’ll tackle each one here.

1. Packing and Moving:

We hired a moving company. There was no way I thought we’d be able to haul all of our belongings cross country by ourselves. We did do most of the packing though. Rubbermaid was kind enough to send us several Large and Medium totes to use for packing everything up. I used them all! We packed everything from clothing and books to kitchen items in them. We even used a few to pack things up in our van for the trip over. That definitely helped us keep organized! I’ll update again later when we get to North Carolina and let you know how the packing went in the Rubbermaid totes. I’m wondering if they’ll fare better or worse than the professional packers!

2. Navigation:

I can’t follow a map and drive at the same time. It takes too much effort, and taking my eyes off the road scares me! We knew we’d be following the interstate, but looking for gas stations and rest stops along the way besides just looking for road signs was going to be very important, and we knew a GPS device would help us. I contacted Magellan, and they sent me their Maestro 4350! When this arrived at my house, I was so excited! I knew that we’d be able to drive more safely across, and I’d be able to navigate our new town when we got there!

3. Keeping our girls occupied:

I had won a Leapster2 and a couple of games from one of Mama Speaks a while back, and knew that this would be perfect for our trip. I told my husband that we’d have to get another one before we took off, and a few more games too. I just hoped the girls would be able to figure it out in a very short time, and not throw any fits because they couldn’t play it… I also planned on taking as many of their favorite Disney Princess movies as I could.

Well, I think I have it all thought out. I’m hoping to get enough time to update when we are on the road, but I’m not making any promises… Wish us luck! The drive is going to be April 6-11 so keep us in your thoughts for a safe, and hopefully uneventful trip. Please excuse me if I’m scarce for a little bit. There’s a lot to take of in the next few weeks to prepare for this move! I’ll have some guest bloggers on while I’m out…
Talk to everyone soon!!!

A change of pace..

Mar-23-2009 By Monica

As many of you know, Mommy Brain Reports was created solely for the purpose of providing product reviews, and offering consumers a place to find more in depth information about products and services. Well, as much as I love doing product reviews, I feel like this blog is missing something. I really feel like it’s missing a more personal feel. Everyone knows I’m a mom of twin girls, but do you really know how we do our reviews? Do you know that we really love going to the park, or that we love playing in the back yard with paints, and chalk?

Maybe I’m wrong here? What would YOU like to see more of here? Would you like to see a more personal feel here? Do you like the fact that this is a no-nonsense product review blog? Would you like to see more photos? A more concrete rating system? This blog is written by me, but YOU as my loyal readers and consumers who keep me going do have a say! Let me know! Leave me a comment below! Let me know if you have any suggestions that could make this blog better!
