Huge Savings on Infant Formula

Sep-30-2009 By Monica

2_for_10Special Walmart Store Brand Formula Sale

As many of you may know, I had to formula feed my girls. It wasn’t a choice, it was a necessity, and it was expensive to formula feed twins. Luckily, it wasn’t as expensive as it could have been. We used Parent’s Choice infant formula, and saved nearly $1400 over the year that we used it.

Parent’s Choice encourages parents to breastfeed their babies, and believes breast milk to be the gold standard in nutrition for their infants. They also understand that some parents are not able to breastfeed exclusively, or even at all, as was my case. In these instances, they want to show parents that they can save a large amount of money, and not sacrifice their baby’s nutritional needs by choosing store brand infant formula.

Store-brand formulas, which are labeled with the names of retail-store brands, are as nutritionally equivalent to name-brand formulas. Sold at more than 35,000 retailers, grocery stores, and drugstores such as Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target, Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, and Babies “R” Us, store brands typically save parents up to 50 percent on formula.

Parent’s Choice infant formula is available exclusively at Walmart, and for a limited time, special cans of the store brand Parent’s Choice Infant Formula are currently on sale. Parents can buy two cans for just $10! That’s just an amazing price, especially considering the prices of the comparable national name brand formulas

Some price comparisons:

  • Parent’s Choice Milk Infant Formula is on sale in a 15.5 oz (440 gram) can for $5.00 each
  • Enfamil Lipil or Similac Advance Milk Infant Formula in a 12.9 oz can at Walgreen’s is $14.99
  • Parent’s Choice Gentle Infant Formula for babies with fussiness or gas is on sale in a special 12.9 oz (366 gram) can for $5.00 each.
  • Enfamil Gentlease 12oz can at Walgreens is $14.99 or Similac Sensitive in a 12.9oz can at Walgreens is $15.99
*Prices taken from Walgreens.com on Sept 30, 2009. Prices subject to change

That’s a huge cost savings! You could potentially get 3 cans of Parent’s Choice for the same price as one can of those national name brands! That leaves you some good spending money for diapers, other baby necessities, or possibly a date night out! WOOHOO!

Now, if you are worried about buying  store brand over a national name brand, you should know that all infant formulas marketed in the United States are subject to the same exacting standards of the FDA, pursuant to the Infant Formula Act of 1980 and the subsequent LSRO report commissioned by FDA in 1998. This legislation vested FDA with the authority to ensure that all infant formulas sold in the United States meet minimum and maximum nutrient specifications. This is a good thing! This means that name brands aren’t any better than the store brands, so you shouldn’t feel guilty about wanting to save a little bit of money! You buy store brands for yourself too, right? Same thing!

This information is now more important than ever for many mothers because of changes in the Women, Infants and Children program. As of October 1, 2009, a new WIC initiative aimed at increasing breastfeeding rates among families reallocates funding for all currently provided foods, including infant formula, baby foods, juices, and fresh fruits and vegetables. This program could mean a reduction of up to 20 percent in infant-formula subsidies; parents who previously had most of their formula paid for by WIC may now have to purchase formula on their own. If you can’t or choose not to breast feed, the cost savings is amazing when you purchase store brand infant formula! It will help your dollar stretch much further.

Prepare yourself for worse network service than ever before. The latest update for the iPhone (v 3.1) is now available for download in iTunes… It is reported to add the ability to send MMS messages. If you thought your service was shoddy before… It’s only going to get better. worse.

As highly anticipated as this ability has been, AT&T’s networks have been straining under the usage of (over 8 million iPhones on) the iPhone Data services, including internet/apps. There’s even some worry that the rush from users trying to update to 3.1 is going to crash the system as well.

As much as I love Apple, and I love my iPhone, I’m not a huge fan of the AT&T service… especially since the moment I turn into my driveway, I go from 5 bars & 3G to 1 bar or no service… I don’t get it… and apparently the many people from AT&T I’ve spoken to don’t either…

For those of you that are just dying to update, I’d really suggest waiting until the hype is over. The last time I tried to update on the first day of a big release, my phone couldn’t contact the service and was rendered unusable for several hours. I wasn’t happy..

Good luck everyone!!!

You may have heard that McNeil Consumer Healthcare (the makers of TYLENOL®) is voluntarily recalling certain lots of Children’s and Infants’ TYLENOL® liquid products that were manufactured between April, 2008 and June, 2008. All products manufactured met internal specifications. However, the company is implementing this recall because during this period, an unused portion of one inactive ingredient did not meet all quality standards. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, it was decided to recall all Children’s and Infants’ TYLENOL® liquid products listed below, which were made during this time.

Parents and caregivers who have questions or concerns should contact their child’s health care provider or our consumer call center at 1-800-962-5357 (available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time). Consumers can find the lot numbers on the bottom of the box containing the liquid product and also on the sticker that surrounds the product bottle. The lot numbers of the affected products are listed below.

These actions do not apply to Children’s TYLENOL® Meltaways and Junior Strength TYLENOL® Meltaways. The voluntary recall applies only to select lots of Children’s and Infants’ TYLENOL® liquid products.

Harry Connick Jr has come out with a new album and thanks to One2One Network, I got to check it out before it’s even out in stores!

His music isn’t something that I’d normally choose when looking for music, which is why I was so excited to try it out. I love country music and I love rock n’ roll. This is neither.

Actually, this music really reminded me of the music my Grandfather used to listen to. He has a wonderful, soothing voice, and hearing some of the songs my Grandpa did listen to (Sinatra, Cole, etc) really brought back memories of listening to music with him. He’d play his old records just because sometimes and we’d all dance in the living room. I really liked the remake of Can’t Help Falling in Love With You the best.

His new album comes out next week, but you can win one here thanks to One2One Network! All you have to do to enter is leave a comment!

Frigidaire just announced Jennifer Garner as their new celebrity ambassador! What a fantastic choice – I love her. This afternoon Jennifer will introduce Frigidaire’s new line of appliances, designed with features that help us Moms save time in our busy schedules, and challenge us to pledge a bit of our own time to help children in need. Frigidaire’s new “Make Time for CHANGE” campaign supports Save the Children’s U.S. Programs, dedicated to making a difference in children’s lives.

Frigidaire and Garner are asking Moms to think ahead to November 1st – the day all of us change the clocks and get an extra hour – and pledge to use that time to help make a difference in the lives of children. What is one hour of your time? It’s a life changing hour to a child in need! Save the Children created the CHANGE program (Creating Healthy, Active, and Nurturing Growing-up Environments) to promote healthier lifestyles for children living in poverty by providing nutritious snacks and regular opportunities for them to be physically active.

Starting today, everyone who goes to Frigidaire.com and raises her hand with a pledge to make time for a child, will commit Frigidaire to donate $1 to support the CHANGE. As an added bonus, everyone who pledges her time will be entered for a chance to win a new Frigidaire Professional double wall oven. Easy enough right? All it takes is a few minutes to click and an hour to CHANGE a child’s life for the better!

MomCentral also has a Frigidaire Professional double wall oven to give away to their Mom Central Community!  To enter to win, simply go to http://www.momcentral.com/reviews/frigidaire-giveaway-and-celebrity-ambassador.html and tell them about your pledge and how you would give back your time to children in need. Mom Central will pick one lucky winner in a random drawing from all entries received!

You just can’t lose in this one! So go now! Make the pledge at Frigidaire.com and let MomCentral know that you did!

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by MomCentral on behalf of Frigidaire and received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.”
