AÂ KansasÂ company is recalling about 60,000 pounds ofÂ ground beefÂ because the product may be contaminated with E. coli. It was sold locally at Walmart andÂ Sam’s ClubÂ stores.
TheÂ U.S. Department of AgricultureÂ saysÂ National Beef Packing Co.Â ofÂ Dodge CityÂ has recalled about 60,424 pounds ofÂ ground beefÂ because of E. coli concerns.
The recall includes ground beef chubs produced on July 23, 2011, with a freeze date of Aug. 12, and product codes 483, 684, 782, 785, 787. Also recalled are ground beef chubs produced on July 25, 2011l, with a freeze date of Aug 14., bearing product codes 431, 471, 494.
TheÂ USDAÂ says the problem was discovered during testing at anÂ OhioÂ facility that bought some of the products.
E. coli is a potentially deadly bacteria that can cause serious stomach issuesÂ and other problems.
