BTS Craft: Art Project Carry Tube

Aug 19, 2012 No Comments by Disclosure

My girls LOVE to do art projects, and they are always bringing home some really cool drawings from school. For the last two years, they had brought them home either folded up in their backpacks, or in their hands, only to get wrinkled in the wind. A few really cool drawings ended up having to be repaired when we got home. I’m hoping that this project will prevent that from happening this year.

We made a really cool art carry tube! Here’s how we did it!

Things you’ll need:

  • Cardboard Mailing Tube. We got the 3′x24″ one from an office supply store.
  • Fun Duct Tape (We grabbed Hello Kitty & Hawaiian Flowers at Walmart)
  • Permanent Markers/Stickers/Anything to decorate the tube. (We got Sharpies at Walmart)

It’s really simple to make!

First you want to make the strap. Measure out about 40 inches of duct tape, and lay it out on a table, sticky side up.

Measure out a second strip of duct tape, also 40 inches long, and carefully place it sticky side down on top of the first strip. Match it up so no sticky is showing.

Attach the strap to one end of the mailing tube with duct tape, and measure the strap so that it fits comfortably across your child’s chest. Cut off the extra tape, and attach the other end to the tube with duct tape.

Secure the strap by wrapping duct tape around the top and bottom of the strap a few times.

Give the kids the tubes to decorate with the markers, stickers and whatever else you have on hand!

Now the kids can take their art work home safely!

My girls were really excited to make these tubes! Now they’re all ready to bring home some of their projects from art class!
