DIY- Decorate Your Pumpkin with Duck Tape®!

I was given a challenge. To decorate our pumpkin using only Duck Tape®. Challenge Accepted.

First, we had to brainstorm what kind of pumpkin we wanted. Tall, Skinny, Short, Round… We also had to decide on a character. We went between Princess and Pirate, and even Football Player (that was my idea). We all decided on a Pirate. We found a medium sized round pumpkin and went in search of the Duck Tape. We found some in the craft section, but it was not very Halloween looking. The craft section had plaid, zebra print, and a few other cute designs, but nothing that would work for a pirate. We then checked out the home improvement / paint section and we hit the jackpot. We found black, gold, white, and even a really cool purple spider web tape too!

We started off with our plain pumpkin.

First we cut out a piece for the eye patch, and then the string for the eye patch out of the black tape. Then a large piece for the mouth. My daughter helped me cut out little squares of gold duck tape for teeth, and a circle for an earring. Next we used the white to cut out the shape of an eye, and used some of the black scrap for the pupil. Last, we wrapped some of the purple spider web tape across the top to make a handkerchief to cover our pirate’s head.
We had so much fun putting this together, and it’s virtually mess-free! No slimy pumpkin guts, no worrying about having a hard time cutting into the pumpkin, and you can let your imagination go wild with this!

All supplies are available at your local Walmart! Pumpkins were only $3.88 regardless of size, and the Duck Tape prices varied based on the color/design.
