Layaway is coming back to Walmart!

Sep 12, 2012 1 Comment by Disclosure

Last year, Walmart brought back Layaway as a limited trial, and it was a huge deal! So huge, in fact, that they are bringing it back, bigger and better than before!

That’s right, Bigger.And.Better.

Last year, millions of Americans used layaway at Walmart to provide a great Christmas for their families. This year, Walmart is expanding the categories, and giving customers an extra 30 days to make payments on their layaway purchases!

Layaway begins September 16th, 2012, and all purchases must be payed and picked up by December 14th, 2012.  The day after Thanksgiving is the only day between September 16th and December 14th where customers cannot place items on Christmas layaway at Walmart.

If you are a fan of Walmart on Facebook, you can gain early access to layaway! Just check out the layaway early access app, and sign up to get your ticket to early access! Shop early and make sure you don’t miss out on any deals!

Walmart’s layaway program, coupled with their everyday low prices and Ad Match program will ensure that their customers get more Christmas for their money this holiday.

Here’s more about the pricing for Walmart’s Layaway program.

Pricing:

  • Individual items must be priced $15 or more, and the total basket must be at least $50. (same as last year)
  • A down payment of 10 percent or $10, whichever is greater, is required when items are placed on Layaway.  (same as last year)
  • The Layaway open fee is now $5 but if the customer pays in full they will receive it back on a Walmart gift card.
  • If the order is cancelled, the open fee is not refunded; however no additional cancellation fee will be charged. Last year, there is a $10 cancellation fee for any orders not picked up by that date or cancelled by the customer.
What items can be put on layaway?  Electronics, toys, jewelry, small home appliances and select sporting goods such as basketball goals, trampolines and large exercise equipment are available for layaway at Walmart.

Layaway payments can be made at any register. Putting an item on layaway and picking up layaway orders is done at the Walmart.com counter in the majority of stores. Pick up hours are 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. local time. Layaway orders and pick up will not be accepted on the day after Thanksgiving.

I used layaway last year, and I plan to use it again this year ! I can’t wait to see what cool things we’ll be able to get for the kids now that we have that extra 30 days to make payments!
