1st tip Don’t let hubby near the grill. Actually, don’t always cook on high it’s ok to cook something slow and long.

Summer tip: water in the morning or evening, not during the heat of the day.

  11. judy brittle says:

My tip is to find some activities you can do with the kids for some fun quality summer fun. Make summer treats, work on crafts,go on hikes and scavenger hikes.. Do that a couple hours a day and the kids are happy to go play by themselves to give you a rest. Thank you!

  15. Melissa says:

My four year old and I planted a garden this summer. We started it from seed packs for about $10 total and we’ve just started harvesting lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, squash and lots of herbs. We’ve saved ourselves money and I’ve taught him a lot about growing plants and taking care of them in the process!

  16. Michelle says:

Savor the sun: harvest from a dewy garden, soak in an afternoon pool, and linger in the dusk, drinking every last drop of summer.

  17. judy brittle says:

On the hottest part of the day its better to keep the kids in the house. That would be a great time for a summer snack and reading.

  18. Christina says:

The links to Scott Commonsense aren’t working.

  19. Melanie says:

We use the sprinkler instead of a little pool that way he gets to have fun in the water and we water the grass at the same time!

    I also follow with RSS.

  21. Angela Bailey says:

I like to take veggies out of my garden and wrap them in foil with a little butter and salt and put them on the grill for about 15 minutes. This is great to have with dinner. I especially love mixing squash, onions, and banana peppers. Garlic salt is good too. This gets me out in the garden and in a little bit of sun for a short time during the day in the summers at least.

My summer tip is that I always freeze water bottles and juice boxes to take on trips or picnics because it saves money and you always have an icy cold beverage for those HOT days of summer lol

The humidity is awful here in South Carolina!

Fo summer we buy local, it is usually freshest and less expensive. Plus the famers and markets need the business.
We use alot of our veggies & fruits in salads and pasta to make a filling, meal or sidedish.
