The Bible on The History Channel

Mar 10, 2013 3 Comments by Disclosure

If you haven’t heard already, The History Channel is showing a 10 episode mini-series called The Bible… and it is pretty good! Walmart is sponsoring this series, produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey. The first episode was last Sunday, March 3rd, and continues every Sunday night at 8pm.

This has been really neat for us because this year, in church, we have been taking the Bible in sections. Each Sunday, we study a small section and learn more about how God wants us to live our lives. This mini-series is a perfect supplement to our teaching series!

If you’ve missed any of it, you can now pre-order the whole series on Blu-Ray or DVD now, and it will ship on April 2, 2013. Why pre-order? Customers who pre-order The Bible will receive a Digital HD copy of the Bible (Walmart Exclusive) and they will also have access to exclusive VUDU content – “First Look” of 10 episodes on Vudu!

Want to have your own Bible Study/Teaching Group? You can also order A Story of God and All of Us: A Novel Based on the Epic Miniseries “The Bible” for Adults and Young Readers and A Story of God and All of Us Reflections: 100 Daily Inspirations Based on the Epic TV Miniseries “The Bible”

Just having something about the Bible is good, I guess, but I was unmoved by the 2 evenings I watched. First, there were inaccuracies which shouldn’t have been there. Second, a lot of time was taken by fighting when more could have been spent on what it is all about. Third, it didn’t bring you to tears or joy as did “The Passion of the Christ”. And as a side note, I wonder why almost all presentations of Biblical people avoid those who look Semitic? Are we ashamed that Our Lord and His mother and others were Jewish?
