Walmart’s Spiderman AR App on Android & iPhone

Walmart is ready for Spiderman, and they have just recently released a new augmented reality (AR) app (Android & iPhone)  inspired by the forthcoming Spiderman movie! Like their previous Avengers AR App, it will have some cool in-store integration including Spidey to interact with. Go to Walmart.com to download the app and view a tutorial explaining how the app works and how to interact with it in store. You can also just scan the QR code on specially marked signs in store!

The app will take a few minutes to initialize and download some additional content the first time you open it.

Unfortunately, like the Avengers AR app, I had trouble with it on my phone. I have an HYC Evo 4G, which is close to 2 years old. There is a very small internal drive, and I can’t move this app to my SD card. I was going to take it for a spin on my tablet, but I didn’t have a WiFi connection to get the extra content. The app itself is quite large, and during initialization, it installed additional content. I understand that these apps are quite graphic intensive, so the large size doesn’t surprise me, it’s just sad that I can’t play with them!

I really wish I could’ve been able to try this app, because the video makes it look like a lot of fun!
